Home Groups

Home groups are a vital aspect of our church life.

At Tavistock Methodist Church we believe that meeting during the week in small groups fulfils a vital role in our everyday lives. We call them ‘House Groups’ for no other reason that they for the most part are hosted in people’s homes. Typically a group will meet once a week in an evening and are attended by between 6 and 10 in number who usually live in that home's locality. Whilst friendships inevitably grow within the groups, they are outward looking, always changing welcoming new faces as well as seeing friends move on. In short, they are a great opportunity to meet with others in a group size that nurtures and allows study and discussion, being underpinned by genuine friendship and care for one another.

Each group chooses their own study material or may elect to follow the current series being taught in church. Other groups may vary and follow an emphasis of prayer or perhaps topical issues concerning the wider community. Whatever and however a group chooses to move forward, they all embrace a relaxed approach to fellowship and look outward, from serving each other to serving the community. Currently there are 12 groups which include all male and all female groups as well as mixed.
